Public Service Announcement: Advisory to avoid water activities at Humboldt ("Stoney") Lake lifted

Saskatoon – Saskatoon Health Region officials have lifted the advisory to avoid swimming, playing and engaging in other activities (e.g., water skiing) in the water at Humboldt Lake (also known as Stoney Lake). Lab results have indicated that the water quality is safe and the potential for exposure to harmful bacteria due to raw sewage is no longer a threat.

The initial advisory was issued July 29, shortly after the sewage treatment plant in Humboldt discharged untreated sewage into drains that empty into Humboldt Lake, following heavy rains in the area. The lake is about four kilometres south of Humboldt.

Those who have health-related questions about water quality can call HealthLine 811 or contact Saskatoon Health Region at 306-655-4620.
